Boldo

Boldo is used for appetite loss and liver and gallbladder problems. Boldo leaf is also used for indigestion and mild intestinal cramps, although its effectiveness for these problems remains unproven.

Do not use Boldo if you suffer from obstruction of bile duct or severe liver disease. If you have gallstones, check with your doctor before using this herb. When the leaf is taken in customary doses, no side effects are likely. However, oil of Boldo contains a high concentration of a toxin called ascaridiole, and should never be used. No drug interactions have been reported. This information is for educational purposes and should not replace discussions with your doctor.
