Cinchona

Cinchona is used for appetite loss and indigestion. Cinchona has many other uses, for the majority of which effectiveness is unconfirmed. In Asia it's taken for bacterial infections, chronic dysentery, fevers, and malaria. Homeopathic uses include gout, excessive irritability, and inflammation of the kidney. In folk medicine, it has also been used for fullness, gas, flu, enlarged spleen, muscle cramps, cancer, scrapes, and leg ulcers.

There are no known medical conditions that preclude the use of Cinchona. If you have hemophilia or other bleeding problems, you should be aware that Cinchona can delay clotting. Quinine and quinine-based drugs have also been know to cause allergic skin reactions (eczema or itching). Remember, too, that when taken habitually or used in excessive doses, Cinchona can be quite toxic. No drug interactions have been reported.
